Continue college, or take a break?

I'm a freshman in college, and after this semester, I will have the general education cles out of the way. I'm very smart, I've always made straight A's, I'm very responsible, all that jazz. But I have absolutely no idea what I want to do (career-wise). Maybe that's because I started college at 17, and I still haven't fully grown as a person. But next semester, I'll have to take major-specific cles, and I don't know what I want to do... I would love some time off from school to work and get used to the real world and to get stabilized, but people are always like "No, that would be a stupid decision." So what should I do?
