So did WWI start with Germany invading Poland?
It started with the ination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The date was June 28th 1914, the Archduke and his wife were on their way to the hospital to see civilians injured in a previous attempt to kill them earlier. Someone had thrown a bomb at the car they were riding in but had missed and many civilians had been injured instead. The incident took place in Sarajevo, the capitol of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by Gavrilo Princip, a member of "the Young Bosnian's", who had trained him and six others as ins. This among other things prompted the Austro-Hungarians to declare war upon Serbia within two months of the deaths of Franz and Sophie.
