I think I would answer Question 1 in relation to Lysistrata, and begin with the question itself, which states the unless something in the play relates to "modern man" the play would not still be read or performed. I'd point out the way the question allows "modern woman" to become invisible, and talk about how the play is in part about the way the invisible women of society in Aristophanes day were able to end the war because of their invisibility, and because the wouldn't accept it anymore. I'd then broaden the discussion to talk about other invisible members of society, and about the continuing relevance of the effects of war on the country that wages it.
