What to do if you're constipated at the hospital?

This is my second night in the hospital and every time I stay here I always get constipated. I had a bm last night but nothing today and my stomach feels very full like I should be having one but I have no urge to go. They are giving me fluids, pain meds and stool softeners. The stool softeners never work for me. Should I ask for something different? Should I walk the halls? I don't really want to walk the halls because I don't want to lug my big machine with me. I also only want to walk the halls if it is really going to work so how long would I have to walk an hr or so? I also have to wear a mask if I leave my room so I don't really want to do that and my room is small to walk around.
